The description is from Kauffman(4) except where otherwise indicated.

Inocybe kauffmanii has been found in WA and OR (Kauffman), and CA (Nishida). Collections from BC are at the University of British Columbia.
Cap:
3-6cm across, subconic, then bell-shaped - expanded, umbonate, margin decurved [downcurved]; cream-colored to isabelline; dry, fibrillose-scaly at center, becoming long-rimose [long-cracked] toward margin, (Kauffman), cream color or at most dingy yellowish or straw color; silky, soon becoming scaly at least at the center, not lubricous when wet, (Stuntz)
Gills:
adnexed, close, narrow, broader near margin; whitish-avellaneous then cinnamon-brown, the edges white-fimbriate [white-fringed]
Stem:
4-8cm x 0.4-1cm, more or less equal or widening downward, clavate-subventricose enlarged toward base, stuffed to hollow; the same color as cap or paler; becoming bald, striatulate [finely striate], (Kauffman), entirely pruinose, pink at the top only, elsewhere cream color or ivory, (Stuntz)
Veil:
no ring
Microscopic spores:
spores 8-10 x 5-6 microns, elliptic - almond-shaped, inequilateral, smooth, pale ochraceous under microscope; cystidia moderately abundant, 45-50 x 12-16 microns, "rather stout, ventricose above a short thick pedicel, obtuse at the apex", cystidia colorless, thick-walled
Spore deposit:
[presumably a shade of brown]
